(#13)Pastiche Preview: Goose Summer Tour [Cleveland,OH, (N1) 6/19]
Jacobs Pavilion in Cleveland Ohio became a shrine of tight Goose Jams for Night 1 of the 2 night run. The Stream allowed for people like myself to still be a part of the Magic. Cleveland next summer will definitely have to be planned and executed efficiently because not only is the venue situated in one of the most beautiful spots in the city, but the crowd seems like a place that would remind me of the vibes that I would be experiencing in Denver.
Anyone that I’ve ever met from Cleveland has always been extremely kind and some of the friendliest conversations I've had as I've traveled around the Country meeting people at different Festivals. I’m sure it’s just like if you were to go to any show at Cervantes (with the right kind of crowd) and the locals have infiltrated the venue;you can have a great conversation with just about anyone. I had this part of the east coast run scoped out when the summer tour was first scheduled and I wasn't wrong when I thought they were going to be some of the best shows of the entire tour.
The ambiance of the show reeked of impromptu jams. Every song had its own nuances that have barely been shared to fans. My favorite kind of energy that the band has been able to express as of late.
SET 1
Mr. Action
The 2nd Mr. Action of the Tour (#1 was San Fran N2) and the jam couldn’t have been unpackaged in a better way. The grooves that can be unlocked within the Song traditionally have been kept in a pretty toned down fashion; so it’s great to see how one of my favorites that's become a shelved Jam for quite some time now has been idiosyncratically morphed into some prime Goontz energy. Go back and listen to both and you can see what I’m talking about. The San Fran Mr.Action is the prequel to the New Chapter that was about to be written for the Cleveland Mr.Action Goontz Jam.
Hot Tea
It’s a great vibe when the boys close out the first set with Hot Tea. It doesn't matter which set it is, it’s the best way to close things out. Fiddlers night 2 I know the crowd was waiting for a Hot Tea encore after the legendary performance that they had just put on. That Empress of Oragnos was still fantastic. For Hula I'll be begging to the Goose Gods for a Hot Tea encore. It would be such a vibe to jam out to some Suwannee Hot Tea. The Cleveland Hot Tea is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a good Jam to Perk up your mood.
SET 2
Madhuvan > Atlas Dogs
This Madhuvan rolled deep like thunder. Rick was even hopping on the Synths that he had near all of his Pedals. The Luna Luna energy that was presented back in march was definitely being teased throughout the beginning. Peter has been getting extremely experimental with the Synths for the last year and now all of that experience is being shown now with these trancey jams that have been harvested from so many different songs. Madhuvan has some of the craziest energy and in my honest opinion is what bred all of the Goontz vibes that have been noticed and Coined by fans on Summer Tour. Atlas dogs has that mythical energy that can be easily attached to such a unique song like Madhuvan. The blend was effortless and warms your brain in the best way possible.
Encore
Doobie Song > Madhuvan
Hearing Doobie Song live for the first time was such a great time. Reggae Goose made me think that they just teleported us to a Stick Figure Concert. I hope that they continue to develop throughout the rest of the year. I know I keep bringing up Hulaween but its slowly approaching and I know the boys are going to have some special sets planned. All I ask is that we get a Doobie Song in one of the 2 sets. Hearing that in the middle of the Forest with all the homies is for sure going to be a core memory.
