(#15)Pastiche Preview: Goose Summer Tour [Canandaigua, NY, 6/22]
CMAC has been a special venue for Goose for many years now. It's an Amphitheater that situates itself in one of the most beautiful parts of New York and provides an
Ambiance within the audience that fits the energy of Goose like a glove.
Just like Jacobs Pavillion in Cleveland, I hope the band continues to make annual visits to the venue so I can get a chance to see the magic with my own eyes. The stream made CMAC look like such a vibe with the pit being nice and cozy to the stage and all of the lights illuminating all of the beautiful trees that surround the venue.
SET 1
Draconian Meter Maid > Dustin Hoffman
The trend has continued with Dustin Hoffman blending itself within another classic Goose Tune. All of the renditions of jams that have been expressed with Draconian Meter Maid in the last year is fitting for a song like Dustin Hoffman that debuted itself on the new Studio Album “Everything Must Go”. If there is a sequence of amazing musicianship that is put on display by the band its these two songs that were performed in the 2nd set.
Animal
This is probably the best intro with all of the new sound effects on the synth boards that Peter has been using over the past year. It feels like the Band is transporting you to a realm within a psychedelic jungle that's fueled by Rick's Guitar riffs. Just like in Cleveland N2 with Hot Tea Closing out the set, Animal sustained and provided that same energy at CMAC closing out with an Animal that rivals the Animal jam that was played at Fiddlers. Another Song I'll be begging to the goose gods to deploy at Hula. It looks just like a Jungle and would be the perfect fit to bring the song to life in a physical place in all the right ways.
SET 2
Eminence Front
The last time this cover was played I was able to witness it at the Greek Theater in LA on 9/29/24 for the Bands 10th Anniversary Show. The Who has and always will have this aura around their music that is impossible to compare to other bands. Goose understands that aspect of performing music more than any other contemporary Jam Band that is currently touring right now. Such a smooth and Sexy cover that they better start unshelving more often for different shows. If they decide to cover more Who songs that wouldn’t bother me one bit. I would be feeling the complete opposite way.
Big Modern !
CMAC got Draconian Meter Maid and Big Modern in the same show… what a treat that audience was able to receive. Goontz was in the air during the second set with the Big Modern ! having one of the most Edgy Punk Rock Jams that have yet to be unpackaged so far. I would say over the last 9 Months (Since September Tour) Big Modern! has been one of the most played songs and it has picked up a lot of character in that time.
Encore
Thatch
Every time I think of Thatch now I have to recognize the beauty that we witness with the Thatch that was performed at the beginning of the second set in Bend. The Encore had to be short and sweet but the jam still had the same ambiance that it had in Bend. In your face, but in the most polite way possible, the interpretation of the jam could be left to the audience to admire. The encore is such a Paradox for fans but its a token of gratitude that makes us come back to deposit it for the next show.
